Projects: This week we started a unit on ecosystems. Students will learn about various types of ecosystems, abiotic and biotic factors, and how and why energy and matter cylcle through the energy pyramid and food chain of ecosystems.

7th Grade Reading: We will continue reading Two Miserable Presidents and use CAFE strategies of identifying cause and effect relationships of the Civil War. We will also continue to cite specific evidence when answering critical thinking questions. The kids are really getting good at this!
Of course, students will read to self, respond to their reading, and work on word work with root of the week.

Writing: This week students will use informative writing techniques outlined in Kelly Gallagher's Write Like This to write the "unofficial and unwritten rules" of an element in their lives. Ask the kids about mine; I wrote about the "unofficial and unwritten rules of raising teenage girls." Students continue to build writing stamina through daily writing prompts.

8th Grade Reading: This week students will read material related to Ancient Greece and cite textual evidence to write about the cultural, societal and governmental contributions of the civilization.

Tuesday--IXL A.3
Wednesday--Read for 20 or IXL A.3 (A.3 taken for a grade this week)
